Fishing Information

The rivers Pliva, Una, Unac and Ribnik are one of the most stunning natural beauties. These chalk mountain rivers of Bosnia & Herzegovina attract many fly fishermen from around the world. Weevz Flyfishing Adventures is proud to offer these rivers exclusively to the fly fisher in the Benelux.

Pliva

The River Pliva has an extraordinary color, its probably one of the most beautiful rivers for fly fishing in Europe. The Pliva is very rich in native grayling, some grayling can reach more than 60 cm in length. Although you will easily spot a school of grayling in the clear water, catching the fish can be a challenge. By an abundance of food in the river the fish grow extremely fast. Because of the natural clear water, it is advisable to fish with thin leaders. We can recommend the river Pliva to all fly fishermen who want to take up the challenge to catch the largest grayling in europe.

Una

The river Una is a mountain river with abundant rapids and waterfalls. On the upper river between Martin Brod and Kulen Vakul is the western part a special fishing area rich in brown trout and grayling. Each fish caught is an experience in itself, because all the species in this area are absolutely wild and native. Good results can be achieved using dry flies, nymphs and streamers. The Unac River turns into the Una River near Martin Brod.

Unac

The river Unac which is about 30 meters wide and is rich in large rainbow and brown trout. Many of the fish caught are up to 40cm and there are fish around of more than 2 kg, in the deeper pools you could find even heavier fish. The trout can be caught using dry flies, nymphs and streamers. The Unac is famous for the extraordinary number of rainbows that can be caught throughout the day!

Ribnik

The Ribnik is about 5 km long and is very accessible for the fly fisherman. Being so shallow you can easily cross at most locations of the river. The Ribnik has a rich abundance of large wild grayling and brown trout. The grayling represent about 70% of the fish population. Most grayling are between 45 and 60 cm. The grayling can be caught on dry flies and nymphs. The Ribnik can offer a lot of fishing activity during the day.

Some other rivers in the vicinity are the Sana and Sanica. It is also possible to book a trip combination in Croatia and Slovenia to fish the famous rivers like the Gacka, Soca, Sava Bohinjka and Idrija. So why not stay a little longer ...........? During the week it is possible to fish in several rivers in this area. The number of fly fishermen in all these rivers is not limited, therefore it is often decided which river will be fished the next day the evening before. Small guest houses are located next to the river, with full service and full board.
