Costa Rica

General Information

Silver King is located in Barra del Colorado, which is approximately 140 miles from San Jose in the extreme Northeastern Caribbean Coast and is the second largest rainforest preserve in Central America.

The junglerivers of the interior of the northern Caribbean coast of Costa Rica are well known for its fantastic Tarpon & Snook fishing. The Rio Colorado and the Rio Parismina provide excellent jungle river fishing. These rivers also provide ocean and surf fishing where they are entering the Caribbean. The Silver King Lodge offers the best fly fishing opportunities for Tarpon and Snook. English speaking guides and with fly fishing experience are available. The Silver King Lodge also has larger boats available to fish offshore for Dorado, Tuna, Wahoo and even Sailfish. This can be a nice break from the Tarpon and Snook fishing on the rivers.

Fishing Information

Tarpon between 50 - 150 pounds and Snook between 5 - 30 pounds can be caught on a daily basis. Several clients already caught Tarpon between 150 – 200 pound, using #12 -14 weight rods, high quality saltwater reels with 400 yards of 40 pound backing and 850 grains sinking Shooting head.

Skiffs

All of our boats are custom made “in house” by Marcos. He designs the boats, hand forms the fiberglass molds, creates the consoles, seats, riggers and everything else. He pours all of the fiberglass here on site and does all of the body work, engine work, electrical wiring, and paint that is required to bring our clients top of the line fishing boats ready to take you out to land the big one!

All boats are equipped with Fish Finders, VHF 25 Watt Radios, and full Safety Equipment. Each boat has a “T” top and dual aft fighting chairs. Our 23’ boats are the Fastest, Largest and Safest boats on the Caribbean coast. For up-river fishing, Silver King Lodge has four 15’ aluminum “Tracker” skiffs – these are equipped with foldable Bimini tops and Suzuki outboards. These are available on a first come, first served basis.

Seasons

Costa Rica can be fished year round but the best fishing season is between Fall and Spring, which is the dry season.

The Accommodation
